Maryn O'Brien, Community Outreach & Engagement
Maryn O'Brien is a versatile wardrobe specialist from southeast Michigan with a passion for music and historical fashion. Graduating in 2019 from Oakland University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Her creative talents extend to costuming, where she made her mark on the Detroit Concert Choir's 2024 Connoisseurs Series production of Donizetti's The Night Bell. Acting as the Costume Designer for Opera de Metro's inaugural season, O'Brien designed and assembled costumes for David Conte's The Gift of the Magi and Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
As of the 2025-26 season, O'Brien will step into a new role with Opera de Metro, focusing on community outreach & engagement.
In addition to costuming local productions and supporting Opera de Metro, O'Brien is an active performer herself, singing with both the Detroit Concert Choir and the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus as an alto section leader and soloist. When she isn't engaged with local performing arts, you can find her managing a specialty vintage clothing store located in downtown Royal Oak.
